Birds Make Terrific Pets If you live in an apartment that doesn't allow dogs and cats as pets, a bird may be an excellent choice for you.

Be sure you research the type of bird you are interested in... parrots for example live as long or longer than humans! Are you ready to make that kind of commitment?

If noise bothers you, then parrots are NOT the bird for you! They are noisy, messy and can be destructive. Start with a small, quieter bird. How about a finch? Or, a parakeet (also can be noisy). I personally like doves. They have a quiet cooing call, are timid and sweet, easy to tame, and the most gentle creatures.

Take Care of Your Birds

Your cages need to be clean, and regular disinfecting is a must. Birds can easily become ill from living in a germy cage. Bacteria can grow in the cracks, crevices, and joints - use a cleaning product like Cage Cleaner to make sure you get all those germs!

Your bird's diet is extremely important. Finding the right food for the kind of bird you have is a must. But, basic diets can be supplemented with great tasting treats.
