Birds are an important part of your garden! They add charm, sound and life,
but also keep many insects away. Give them a home, a place to drink, and
watch nature take it's course!
Also, check out our remodeling and construction
pages for more help and ideas. Don't miss our Pet
Department for great products for your indoor birds.

Foods
That Attract Certain Species of Birds - To attract birds, especially
cardinals, chickadees, titmice, nuthatches, woodpeckers, grosbeaks and towhees
to a new feeder, mix peanuts liberally with seed and watch how quickly they
respond.
-
Sunflower Meats attract redpolls, chickadees, cardinals, nuthatches,
titmice, goldfinches, pine siskins, Grossbeaks .
Original
No-Waste Bird Seed from GardensAlive! contains sunflower seeds, cracked
corn and millet, or Tender-husked sunflower heart chips provide a clean,
uniform, wholesome food that songbirds love. Virtually no hulls, more meat
per pound, and the area around your feeder stays cleaner because the birds
eat every bite.
-
Shelled Peanuts attract cardinals, woodpeckers, nuthatches,
grosbeaks, chickadees, titmice, towhees.
-
Thistle attracts Gold Finches, Purple Finches, Pine Siskins and Redpolls,
juncos, Indigo buntings. Imported nyjer seed (commonly known as thistle,
, also known as niger), rich in nourishing oil, draws large numbers of songbirds
where they have not been attracted previously. It is generally unappealing
to squirrels and large birds.
-
Safflower attracts cardinals, chickadees, titmice. Starlings, grackles
and squirrels dont like it. Pure Safflower Seed feeds birds but not
squirrels If you like to choose the guests at your feeding station and don't
have a spot where baffles will work, this is a great seed to consider. Cardinals
and other birds seem to develop a taste for it.
-
Yellow Corn attracts ducks, geese; squirrels like whole corn; songbirds
eat cracked corn for energy in colder weather.
Original
No-Waste Bird Seed (contains cracked corn) (from GardensAlive!)
-
Millet attracts pine siskins, chipping, song, field and fox sparrows,
mourning doves, juncos, purple finches.

-
Perodovic Sunflower (Black Oil) attracts cardinals, chickadees, finches,
grosbeaks, crossbills, nuthatches, titmice, all your favorites. Most favored
bird seed. Black Oil Sunflower Seed Is The Best All-Round Food All-time favorite
for attracting the greatest number of birds .
