Taking a Break!
Your baby, your bundle of joy! Oh how nice it would be to just have
time to get a warm bath! Not for baby, for YOU! So much to do,
and so little time. Especially if you have other children, ESPECIALLY if
those children are toddler or pre-school. How can a mom manage? What's a
dad to do?
It isn't easy, and feeling stressed out, overwhelmed
and really, really sad are common. I have been there, as well as millions
of other women. And that brings me to the point of this page. (Not to leave
dad out, father's can really feel left out, ignored, upset because their
wife is no longer interested in them the way she used to be,
etc.)
Let us come together to assist our fellow mothers and women in dealing, coping
and overcoming the challenges of motherhood. It isn't easy, but it has been
done since God created humans. That doesn't make it any easier, does it?
Tips to Relax
My first tip is this: If the baby cries for a few minutes while you
take a hot bath, it will probably be just fine! I am not saying if your child
is in danger from some illness or problem related to breathing or other health
risk that you should leave it alone and go take a bath! I am saying
that a normal, healthy baby can lay in it's crib or bassinette for 10 - 15
minutes while you relax in those hot bubbles! Your infant may cry, but, it
will be fine. You may cry, and you will be fine, too! I know listening to
those cries can be as upsetting as not having time for yourself, but, that
hot water enveloping your tired body is going to go a long way in helping
you relax! Try some refreshing and soothing bath products from
Bath-and-Body.com
Tip #2: Spend time with your husband. Ok, I know you are tired. You
have given of yourself all day long. There isn't a whole lot left to give.
And then, on top of that, having someone who is all perky and wants
to touch you is really, really annoying, isn't it! I am talking about your
husband. You want to sleep, watch tv, relax, be left ALONE... and here is
this guy who wants to be "close" to you. Hey, been there, done that! What
to do? Well, that is a tough one because both of you have real valid needs.
You need your time, he needs his, well, you know. Let me suggest this: for
the last 2 hours before you go to bed have dad take care of the baby. It's
ok, he can do it, really! While this is going on, you go lock yourself in
the bathroom with a good book, a glass of wine (not if you are breast feeding)
and some candles (check out
Candlemart.com ). Give yourself a facial, pedicure, do your
nails, soak. Play the radio or a fave CD. Be quite for a while. Then, when
you do back to your infant, put him or her to bed, and then.... well, you
can figure out the rest!
